Johor awards Peter Danker for major role in football

JOHOR BARU: Johor ruler Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar yesterday conferred the Third Class of the Most Exalted Order Of Sultan Ibrahim Johor (SIJ) to 93-year-old Peter James Danker, for playing a major role in Johor's football.

Danker, a former headmaster of Sekolah Kebangsaan Tunku Mahmood 2, Kluang, between 1958 and 1972 was himself a footballer and badminton player.

He was also one of the pioneers of the Johor Football Association. The award ceremony was held at Sri Lambak, Kluang.

"Peter James Danker has contributed a lot to the game of football in Johor. I appreciate his efforts and contributions because they have helped the Johor Darul Ta'zim football team to be recognised in the world of football today. We must always appreciate our pioneers' contributions," said Sultan Ibrahim.
