Perak floods: Evacuees number increased to 286 people

IPOH: There is a slight increase in the number of flood evacuees in the state with 286 people from 77 families are still seeking shelter in three districts as of 8pm today.

State Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said today, 275 victims from 73 families stayed at flood relief centres.

In Hilir Perak, he said the new area affected by flooding was Kampung Parit 7, where 22 victims from 5 families were sent to Sekolah Kebangsaan Pengkalan Ara at 12 noon.

However, he said the number of evacuees at SK Changkat Jong had declined from 79 to 68.

The number of evacuees in another two districts remained the same namely Manjung (83) and Kerian (113).

The water level at the affected areas also did not change with Kerian recording the highest level at 0.9 metres, Hilir Perak (0.5 metre) and Manjung (0.2 metre).
