KUALA LUMPUR: The Umno General Assembly due to be held next month will be a close-door affair and off-limits to the media.
This was confirmed by the party’s secretary-general Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, who said the decision was made after last night’s Supreme Council meeting.
"We have decided that all press conferences will be held by Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein.
"The media would not be allowed to hang around the area and the assembly would not even be broadcasted on closed-circuit TV," he said.
He added this is to ensure no facts are “spinned” or misinterpreted by the media as it had happened in the past.
