MPS compounds dirty 'mamak' restaurant

SEREMBAN: A ‘mamak’ restaurant in Dataran Senawang was compounded by the Seremban Municipal Council (MPS) last night.

This follows a viral post on social media showing a rat eating from an exposed plate used as rice ladle, which allegedly occurred in Dataran Senawang.

MPS chief Datuk Abd Halim Abd Latif said the council enforcement officers had conducted a spot check at the premise about 9pm after receiving complaints from the public who learnt about the viral pictures.

Abd Halim said the outcome of the inspection revealed that the food storage, kitchen, the premise's compound and its employees were unhygienic or classified as Class D.

"We issued a RM1,000 compound to the operator for two offences under the Local Government Act and Food Preparation bylaw.

"We also ordered the operator to clean the premise, if they failed to clean up within a maximum of three days, the restaurant will be closed down," he said.
