Royal Klang City Council issues 12 compounds to illegal and dirty premises in raids

KUALA LUMPUR: The Royal Klang City Council (MBDK) has issued 12 compounds after raiding premises in Rantau Panjang, Jalan Pekan Baru, and Jalan Selat Selatan for unsanitary and illegal operations, among other things.

MBDK corporate communications director Norfiza Mahfiz said in Rantau Panjang, inspectors visited two premises, and both were found to be operating without valid licences from the Council.

"As a consequence, owners of these establishments received four compounds under Section 3 of the Licensing of Trades, Businesses, and Industries (Municipal Council) Act 2007," she said in a statement.

Meanwhile, in Jalan Pekan Baru, a restaurant came under scrutiny during the operation and was discovered to be operating without a licence, causing obstructions.

"Authorities issued five compounds for offences including operating without a licence, displaying unlicensed advertisements, and obstructing pedestrian pathways.

"These compounds were issued under various sections of the law including Section 3 (1) of the Food Establishment Act (Municipal Council) 2007 and Section 7 of the Advertising Small Act (Municipal Council) 2007."

"At the Jalan Selat Selatan, inspectors found three premises engaged in activities involving the processing and storage of seafood, food preparation (catering), and meat processing.

"As a result, these premises received three compounds for various violations observed during the operation," she said.

Norfiza added that the authority would not compromise on any premises found to be violating regulations.

"Such enforcement operations are crucial to maintain the integrity of the area and ensure public health and safety," she said.
