Police nab two Iranians and seize syabu worth RM160,000

SHAH ALAM: A police team nabbed two Iranian men and seized RM160,000 worth of syabu, on Tuesday.

Selangor Narcotics Crime Investigation Department police chief ACP Md Tahir Kasim said the arrest was made in the parking lot of a shopping mall in Bandar Baru Ampang, around 6pm.

He said police found two backpacks carried by the suspects which contained two plastic packets of syabu weighing 2.1kg.

Md Tahir said the suspects tried to flee. However police managed to nab them.

"Both of the suspects are aged 20 years old. They are being remanded for seven days and the case is being investigated under Section 39 (B) of Penal Code for drug trafficking," he said at a press conference held at the Selangor police headquarters.

He added that one of the suspects used a student visa to enter the country while the other had no documentation.

Meanwhile, a team of police from the Petaling Jaya Narcotics Crime Investigation Division arrested two foreigners from Ghana and Nigerian and seized RM8,400 worth of ganja on the same day.

The arrest were made at Mentari Court apartment around 5pm.

Md Tahir said the suspects, aged between 28 years old and 30 years old, had entered the country using student visas.

"After a thorough observation and investigation as well as acting on input from the public, the police raided a house. The suspects put up a struggle, but police apprehended them.

"During the bust, police found three plastic packets of compressed ganja weighing 2.9kg. We believe the drugs were for the local market," he said.

The suspects are being remanded for seven days to facilitate investigations.

The case is being investigated under Section 39 (B) of Penal Code for drug trafficking.
