Police arrest two men and seize RM22,000 worth of drugs in Kuala Kubu Baru

HULU SELANGOR: Police arrested two men and seized RM22,000 worth of drugs believed to be Ganja in an operation at Jalan Kalumpang, Kuala Kubu Baru, here yesterday.

Hulu Selangor District Police Chief Superintendent Ahmad Faizal Tahrim said a team of officers from the Bukit Aman Narcotics Division conducted surveillance on a Proton Saga at about 8.20pm and found seven slabs of compressed leaves wrapped in a golden coloured foil weighing a total of 6.27 kilogrammes.

"Two occupants of the car, a 43-year-old and 31-year-old, both oddjob workers, were also detained at the scene of discovery.

"Checks showed one of the two suspects had six past records related to drug offences and one criminal record for armed robbery. Meanwhile, the younger suspect did not have any past police records," he said, adding that the Proton Saga has also been seized to facilitate investigations.

Ahmad Faizal said both suspects, however, tested positive for drugs and police have obtained a seven days remand order for both the suspects until Feb 14.

"Preliminary checks showed that the drugs which were seized could feed about 12,552 users for a day, if each consumed 0.5gm per person a day," he said in a statement today.

He said the duo if found guilty could face the death penalty, life imprisonment and/or 15 strokes of the cane, each.
