GEORGE TOWN : Flash floods hit several low lying areas on the island following a two-hour heavy downpour today.
Heavy rain started at 7.30pm and lasted until 10pm.
Traffic flow was at a snails pace along main roads in Jalan Bayan Lepas as motorists waded through rising water levels.
Traffic flow towards the Penang International Airport was also diverted to an alternative road after several temporary road closures were made due to the flash floods.
In Teluk Kumbar, some 10 houses were inundated and heavy vehicles were prohibited from entering Bayan Lepas.
No accidents were reported.
