Police cripples two robbery syndicates

SHAH ALAM: Police have busted two gangs called the "Jiva Rimba Jaya" and "Ahmad Seksyen 16" for allegedly being involved in house break-ins and motorcycle thefts.

The gang "Jiva Rimba Jaya", who have been active for the past three months was nabbed by police on Nov 24 when police from the Seri Muda police station were out patrolling when they saw one of the gang member in a suspicious state.

The police arrested the 22-year old suspect at a construction site in Jalan Sungai Rasau, Section 36.

Shah Alam district police chief ACP Shafien Mamat said, from the investigation, they detained three more suspects aged between 18 and 39 years old. The trio were involved with the syndicate.

From the three, two were men and one was an Indonesian woman. The second arrest was made a day after the investigation.

The 39-year old Indonesian woman was said to have no criminal record while the other three have past records with the police.

He added that the investigation has allowed police to solve 10 cases in addition to consficating 12 motorcycle frames, spare parts of the motorcycles, handphones, and laptops.

"All of the stolen items together are worth RM50,000. Past records have also showed that three of the suspects are involved in drugs and theft cases. All three have been tested positive for drugs.

"The suspects are remanded till today, however we are requesting to extend the remand. The case is being investigated under Section 379 (A) of Penal Code for vehicle theft and also Section 457 of Penal Code for breaking into a house and theft," he said at a press conference held at the headquarters.

Meanwhile, "Geng Ahmad Seksyen 16" was apprehended after a month being active in motorcycle thefts and house break-ins.

He said the police arrested the 23-year old suspect last Friday (Nov 27), at a flat in Seri Muda.

Upon investigaton, he said police arrested another two suspects aged between 23 years old and 29 years old, who are said to be involved in the syndicate.

He said the gang has been staying in a hotel at Section 15, using it as a transit to store all of the stolen items.

"We seized items worth of RM30,000 which comprised of 15 hand phones, watches, motorcycle frames, a piggy bank, a LCD television, a set of stereo, a computer and 12 sets of different keys.

"We have solved four cases and believe there could be more. Therefore, I advise for those who have lodged police reports to come forth to the police station and identify the items," he said.

He said the suspects are remanded till Dec 2 and the case is being investigated under Section 457 of Penal Code, for breaking into a house and theft, and Section 379 (A) of Penal Code, for vehicle theft.
