Probe into PM will be professional, says MACC deputy chief

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) said it will carry out investigations on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak without fear or favour.

MACC Deputy Chief Commissioner (Management and Professionalism) Datuk Jamidan Abdullah said the probe would be carried out professionally.

“Our investigations are based on professionalism. Najib was questioned based on facts we have on SRC International Sdn Bhd and the RM2.6 billion donation,” he said after launching the Walk Against Corruption to mark the International Anti-Corruption Day.

Jamidan was asked on a tweet yesterday by DAP Taiping member of parliament Nga Kor Ming, who questioned MACC’s investigation.

Nga had tweeted: “PM is MACC boss. How to investigate?”

Jamidan said MACC officers were studying Najib’s statement that was recorded yesterday.

“We will look into the statement recorded and if further investigations are needed,” he said.

However, he said there was no deadline to wrap up the case.

“It will depend on the investigation unit,” he added.
