No probe on university's 'Muslims-only' seminar for now, say police
MALACCA: Police will not initiate any investigation for now against the organiser of the 'Ancaman Gerakan Pemurtadan Kristianisasi' seminar at a public university near here last Saturday.
Malacca police chief Datuk Chuah Ghee Lye said it was not an offence to organise such seminars as it was meant for Muslims only.
"There is nothing wrong with it as the objective is to strengthen the faith of Muslims.
"The same applies to any other religious groups," he told reporters after the state police's monthly assembly here today.
Chuah noted that it was an offence under the country's law to convert Muslims to any other religions.
He said police have yet to receive any reports against the organiser of the seminar.
Chuah said police also have no intention yet of investigating lawyer Annou Xavier for playing up the matter.
