KINABATANGAN: A woman and her stepson were stabbed to death in their home at a plantation estate here, early this morning.
The victims were identified as Azura Shima, 39, and Basri Jamaluddin, 24.
In the 5.20am incident, the woman’s ex-husband is believed to have stabbed his wife five times before stabbing his stepson in another room.
District police chief Superintendant A Sahak Rahmat when contacted, said adding one of the woman’s children witnessed the event and had sought help from neighbours after the suspect fled the scene.
“The woman succumbed to her injuries on the way to a nearby clinic. Her stepson died on the spot,” he said.
At press time, no arrests have been made yet. Police are currently tracking down the suspect’s whereabouts.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, which carries the death penalty if convicted.
