Shaheizy Sam to wed actress Syatilla Melvin on Feb 8

KUALA LUMPUR: Reigning Anugerah Bintang Popular Berita Harian top winner Shaheizy Sam Abdul Samad is set to end his bachelor days on Feb 8.

The versatile actor will marry rising television star Syatilla Melvin and their marriage will begin with a solemnisation ceremony in Penang on Feb 8 and a reception by the bride's family in Bukit Jawi Golf Club, Sungai Jawi the following day.

Feb 14 will see a reception by Shaheizy's family at Mandarin Oriental Hotel here, and the newlyweds will host one more reception specially for fans on Feb 20.

The marriage dubbed "the wedding of the year" has recorded about RM25 million in sponsorship. The sponsors include Ceres, Jakel, KL Wedding Ministry, Zaha Wedding Planner, Azasna Design, Altelia Amani, Lords Tailor, Arma Couture, Qudyn KL, Laura Daddys, Casacio, Kaio Studio, Moments Photobooth, Amir Naufal Photobooth and Sunway Putra Hotel.

Wedding planner and veteran singer Datuk Seri Shah Rezza is the ceremony's adviser, while Fazreen Wahab of Sym AB is the event consultant.

Shaheizy, 33, who starred in the highest grossing action movie Polis Evo last year, has known Syatilla, 25, for six years.

"We got along great from the start because both of us like films and TV series that contain meaningful and exciting stories," said Shaheizy during a high tea at Sunway Putra Hotel here today.

Describing his bride as "beautiful, compassionate, humorous and honest", he said: "While we seldom appear in the same movies, we enjoy watching each other's works. Who knows, one day we may star in a movie together, if it's got all the right ingredients!"

He admitted that Syatilla was "the one woman who is there for him" whenever he climbs hills, swims in the sea or confronts challenges in life.

Syatilla, who hails from Parit Buntar, Perak and is the second of five siblings, describes Shaheizy as a "sweet and kind-hearted gentleman". "I was immediately attracted by his down-to-earth persona, honesty and family values. He is a positive thinker and we both believe in working hard in the movie industry."

Syatilla admits that Shaheizy chose Feb 8 as their wedding date because it is her birthday. "I couldn't say no, because it's a date for me to always remember."

The couple thanked the sponsors who chipped in to make their wedding reception a success, and could not wait for their big day.

"We want to make it a moment to cherish forever, with our loved ones, close friends and staunch fans," said Shaheizy who wore a white jacket and trousers to match Syatilla's white dress.

Shaheizy's mother, veteran actress Khaty Fauziah said she was delighted that her youngest of four children would finally get married, and Syatilla was absolutely compatible with him.

"We've been planning this wedding for a month and I'm truly overjoyed to welcome Syatilla into the family."

To mark his marriage Shaheizy launched his very own video game, Sam's Ice Cream, created by Sembang Chat. The company's co-founder Alan Yeap said it featured a cartoon caricature of Shaheizy which players manipulate to catch scoops of ice cream.

"Players get special prizes when they achieve 200, 300, 400 and 500 points. For instance at 500 they get a chance to have dinner with Shaheizy," said Yeap adding that the game was in Google Play but fans could download it from the Apple Store beginning next month.
