KUALA LUMPUR: Singer-songwriter Resh's single Half The Man, taken off his latest EP, Who Am I, has proven to be a success both at home and abroad, especially in the US.

The tune managed to break into the US' Digital Radio Tracker's (DRT) charts.

Formerly known as his stage name Reshmonu, the 39-year-old who now sports a slick quiff and a dapper look said, breaking into the DRT Chart was a completely new game for him.

"It was all too new for me. Half The Man was played and requested on US radios in different cities from Las Vegas to Baltimore. The face of the music industry is changing. It has been an evolving journey for me, musically-speaking, and I am still learning," said the father-of-three when met at his Change Is The Only Constant Press conference at Live House, TREC KL in Jalan Tun Razak today.

For Half The Man, Resh worked with award-winning music producer Jim Beanz at the latter's studio in Philadelphia.

For the unitiated, Jim or his real name James David Washington, has written and produced 95 per cent of the songs featured on the hit television show Empire.

"Jim is a shy guy. The moment I met him, I told him to forget everything he has heard about me and start anew. In three weeks, we churned out eight tunes and one of them is Half The Man. The moment I heard the song, I knew it has to be my new single. I just love the entire feel and vibe that the song gives out," said the Malacca-born artiste.

"Who Am I took two years to make from conceptualising to recording and re-inventing my new look. When people compared me with established singers like Neo and Jason Derulo, I feel honoured," he said, flashing a cheeky smile.

Following the success of Half The Man, Resh is nominated for four categories (Best Male Artiste, Best Live Performer, Best Music Video and Best Song) at the MET 10 Awards, which is set to take place on Saturday (Jan 16) at the StarXpo Centre in KWC Fashion Mall.

On his future music collaboration, Resh revealed that he will be working with an acclaimed Indian musician from India, but refused to divulge more details.

"Only time will tell, and for now lets keep that as a surprise," he said, adding that it has always been his dream to collaborate with American R&B singer-songwriter, Brian McKnight.
