Felda chairman now a William Pitt fellow

CAMBRIDGE: Felda chairman Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad yesterday became the latest member of the William Pitt Fellowship at Cambridge University’s Pembroke College.

The fellowship was a testimonial of the strong relationship between Felda, Pembroke College and the university.

For some years now, Felda has been collaborating with Cambridge University in a range of research and technology projects.

Two years ago, Yayasan Felda signed a strategic agreement with Pembroke College and joined their Corporate Partnership Programme.

Under a memorandum of understanding signed in January 2012, senior officers from Felda and Felda Global Ventures have been going to Pembroke College to enrol in courses and to receive training experience.

The ceremony, held in the Thomas Gray room of Pembroke College, was witnessed by Isa’s wife, Puan Sri Bibi Sharliza Mohd Khalid, and managing director and CEO of Yayasan Felda Datuk Seri Dr Emel Faizal Mohd Mokhtar.

Isa said the fellowship was a recognition and an honour to Felda, as a result of the memorandum of understanding signed between Yayasan Felda and the College, that led to a joint venture project with the university in the field of nano carbon technology.
