Rosmah visits Muhammad Haseef

BANTING: Nine-year-old Muhammad Haseef Mohd Halim, who lost his whole family in a drowning accident in Hulu Terengganu, was happy when the Prime Minister's wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, paid him a visit at his aunty's house in Teluk Panglima Garang earlier today.

During the visit, which lasted well over and hour, Haseef also received an Adidas wrist watch along with a RM5,000 contribution courtesy of the Global Children's Wellbeing Fund, in which Rosmah is the patron.

Rosmah was updated on Haseef's progress since the tragedy by his aunty, Dr Siti Sabariah Samian, who has been his interim guardian following the accident in Dec last year.

Also present during the visit were Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman and members of the Welfare Association of Wives of Ministers and Deputy Ministers (Bakti).

Bakti also made a contribution of RM5,000 by opening a Tabung Haji account for Haseef,

The Social Security Organisation (Socso) said Haseef will be receiving the survivor's pension of RM1,150.50 every month until he turns 21. Socso also gave RM1,500 under the funeral benefits contribution.

Meanwhile, Haseef said he was happy that many came to visit him and said that he was delighted to receive the watch from Rosmah.

The shy boy said he was adapting well at his new school, Sekolah Ibn Khaldun in Jalan Kebun, which he attends with Sabariah's eldest son, Abdullah Azam, 12.

" I love Science classes and I want to be a scientist in the future," said Haseef.

Sabariah will be applying for a three-year extension as an interim guardian for Haseef at the Telok Datok magistrate's court on Feb 1.

On Dec 19 last year, Haseef's parents, Mohd Halim Samian, 44 ,Nurul Adilah@ Salaiwati Awang,39, and three sisters, Nurul Arifah, 16,Nurul Hidayah Aina, 11, and Nurul Izzah, 10, perished when they were swept away by strong currents at the Belukar Bukit waterfall.
