Hailstones as big as 20 sen coins hit Shah Alam

SHAH ALAM: Several parts of Shah Alam were hit by a hailstorm about 4.30pm today.

The hailstones, some measuring the size of 20 sen coins, lasted about 10 minutes before turning into normal rain.

Staff at the New Straits Times Press printing plant in Bukit Jelutong did not miss the chance to take pictures and videos of the phenomenon and uploaded it on various social media platforms.

Motorcyclist Daniel Meng, who was headed towards Kota Damansara from Bukit Jelutong said he had no choice but to stop to seek shelter as the hailstorm was too heavy.

“This hardly happens in Malaysia so I did not only take shelter from the elements but also to enjoy nature as this is my first time seeing a hailstorm," he said.
