Tok Pa brings house down with track bottoms and gloves

KUALA LUMPUR: International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed displayed the lighter side of things when he unveiled several choice ‘exhibits’ at the tabling of the motion on Malaysia’s participation in Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA) this morning.

Halfway through tabling the motion in the Dewan Rakyat, he brought the house down when he produced samples of items which would undergo zero taxation if the TPPA was signed.

Mustapa, better known as Tok Pa, proceeded to bring out a pair of track pants as well as gloves.

“Right now, these are taxed at 20 per cent.

“However, if we accede to the agreement, it will see zero taxation,” he said as members of the lower house burst out in laughter.
