Terengganu police believe escaped convict being harboured by locals

MARANG: Police believe escaped convict Mohd Nazri Mat Nasir is being harboured by locals as he could not have survived for long without aid.

Terengganu police chief Datuk Rosli Ab Rahman said they believe Mohd Nazri is still around the area, with Dungun the furthest he could have reached.

"We have been searched the hills and forests and also mobilised personnel to his relative's house in Paya Resak but to no avail," he said at the launch of Ops Selamat 8 today.

Rosli also warned the public that it is an offence to harbour an escaped convict, and added that the search for him would continue.

Mohd Nazri, 23, who escaped from the Marang prison on Jan 24, was serving a six month sentence for theft.

He would have been eligible for parole in March.
