KOTA KINABALU: The detainee who fled from the Central Lockup in Kepayan here last Saturday was successfully apprehended this afternoon, 48 hours after escaping.
Nazri Hassan, 33, was apprehended by a police team in a forested area in Tuaran at about 12.30pm today.
Earlier, he is believed to have escaped from the Central Lockup in Kepayan while being escorted by detention officers to the investigation room for questioning at around 12.30pm on Saturday. ()
In a viral video, Nazri was seen climbing over a grill while the lockup personnel was away for a brief moment.
It is learned that he was under remand from Dec 10 to 18 for a probe under Section 431A of the Penal Code for committing mischief by cutting electric telegraph cables, wires, lines, post, instrument or apparatus for signalling.
The police force then carried out Op Tutup to track down the suspect.
