KUALA LUMPUR: Nine highways routes were heavily congested as of 5pm today.
A spokesman of the Malaysian Highway Authority, Khairul Azman said that traffic on the North-South Expressway (NSE) heading to the north was reported to be moving slowly from Bukit Beruntong to Lembah Beringin, Tanjung Malim to Bidor, Tapah to Gopeng, Ipoh to Sungai Perak Rest and Service Area (RSA) and Kuala Kangsar to Bukit Berapit.
“As for the NSE heading south, slow traffic flow was reported from Bandar Ainsdale to Senawang, Pagoh to Tangkak and Skudai to Kulai," he said.
Meanwhile, he said the traffic heading to the East Coast was reported to be moving slowly from Gombak toll plaza to Bentong Barat as well as the Karak toll plaza.
Azman also added two accidents were reported at KM398.5 Tanjung Malim-Bidor and KM160.2 of the Pagoh-Tangkak highway.
