This year, we celebrate the year of the Fire Monkey. The two prominent elements that will influence the year are fire and metal, as the monkey is considered to represent metal, says metaphysics consultant and energy healer Sherwin Ng.
“Imagine trying to shape and forge a big piece of metal with fire — you would need a lot of fire, effort and hammering to get the metal piece into shape. As fire and metal are opposing elements, generally, for the entire world, things will be a challenge because of this volatile interaction.”
Although this would be a year of uncertainty, Ng said, those who knew what they wanted from life would be presented with the right opportunities and would not be too affected by the external chaos, irrespective of zodiac sign.
So, what does the year hold for your sign? Ng and Master Kenny Hoo, founder and chief researcher of Good Feng Shui Geomantic Research, present their Chinese zodiac predictions for this year:
MONKEY

Sherwin:It is not a fantastic year for the Monkey as there are no positive stars and a few negative stars in this constellation. This is a year to
reflect and take stock of your life to see what needs to go and what stays. It’s definitely a year of change for the Monkey, and if you implement these changes, then the negative stars won’t have such an impact. Career-wise, you need to re-evaluate whether your career is the right one for you. Monkeys will be more accident-prone this year and need to take care of their health, especially those born in the hour of the Monkey, which is between 3pm and 4.59pm. Be careful when travelling.
Kenny: With the existence of the Heavenly Problem-Solving star, all challenges will be solved eventually. There will be opportunities for a career change and for business or career advancement. Wealth luck will be good. There will be more travelling this year. The year will be full of creativity and scholastic Qi, which is suitable for further studies or acquiring new knowledge or skills. So, be careful of how you handle relationships and know your limits.
Kenny: The Rooster shall expect great advancements in career and wealth luck. Their undertakings will be smooth sailing and they will receive great support and help from a lot of people. A good year for relationships as this is a year that will trigger a good love life, marriage and fertility. However, the presence of the Loneliness star means it will not be a good year for relationships.
