Under the influence: Police quartet nabbed in Ketum raid

KUALA LUMPUR: Four policemen have been detained for consuming Ketum at a house in Taman Tan Yew Lai.

A team of officers from Bukit Aman's Integrity and Standards Compliance Department (JIPS) raided a house at Jalan 9B, Off Batu 6 Jalan Puchong at 2.15am on Thursday, before making the arrests.

Checks showed that three arrested are attached to the Petaling police station, and the fourth is with the Brickfields police headquarters' Serious Crimes Investigation Unit, D9.

All four, aged between 25 and 50, have been detained under Section 30 (3) of the Poison Act 1952.

City Police chief Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid confirmed the arrest of all four suspects when contacted.

"Those arrested have been remanded to facilitate police investigations," he said, without elaborating on the case details.

It was learned that the four may also face disciplinary action or suspension if found guilty of the offence.
