Floods: Damaged Jln Tampin-Gemas reopens

GEMAS: The road at KM43 of Jalan Tampin-Gemas, which was closed since Saturday due to the overflowing of Sungai Kelamah, has been reopened.

State Civil Defence Department (JPAM) director, Lt Kol (CD) Kamal Mokhtar said, the road has been reopened at 5am today.

"The repair works started since yesterday and Works Department officers did another round of checks and were satisfied with the condition and bridge across the river. The road is now safe for road users," he said.

Kamal added, as of 9am today, 666 flood victims from 177 families were still located at six relief centres in Tampin.

"Around 589 victims are housed at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Sungai Kelamah, 18 at Balai Raya Sungai Kelamah and 21 people at Balai Raya Parit Buloh, Air Kuning," said Kamal.

Meanwhile, 15 people are still located at Masjid Sungai Dua, Balai Raya Kampung Ladang Gemas (4) and SK Kampung Ladang (15).
