Umno Welfare Bureau distributes aid to flood victims in Malacca, N. Sembilan

MALACCA: The Umno Welfare Bureau has to date distributed essential items to 1,500 families affected by flood in Malacca and Negri Sembilan.

Its chairman Datuk Shamsul Anuar Nasarah said aid such as rice, sugar, biscuits, canned sardines and bottled water were handed over to the Umno state chairman of the respective states.

He said the aid will then be channelled to all affected victims.

"The aid will be delivered to 700 affected families in Malacca with the remaining meant for 800 families in Negri Sembilan," he told reporters after presenting the aid to Chief Minister Datuk Seri Idris Haron at his official residence, Seri Bendahara, here early today.

Meanwhile Idris expressed his gratitude for the contributions and said the food will be distributed as soon as possible to flood victims sheltered at 13 relief centres across the state.

"The current flood situation is worse than before and we will find ways to avoid this from happening again in the future," he said.
