IPOH: Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir today spread the festive joy to a Chinese couple celebrating their New Year.
Lin Hon Sin, 76, and his wife will be getting a new house as a gift from Zambry and Yayasan Bina Upaya (YBU).
The couple currently share a home with their son and three grandchildren in a house more than 50 years-old.
"This is an effort by YBU and the state government to help the poor in Perak.
"We have been doing this for the past several years in order to help the less fortunate," he said adding that one poor family will be assisted during each festive celebration.
Lin who was elated with the news said he was grateful for the state government's efforts to help him and his family.
"The current house has been in deplorable condition for the past few years and my son who is the sole breadwinner earns only about RM1,000 monthly," he said.
