Murdered elderly couple died of stab wounds

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have confirmed that stabbing was the cause of death for an elderly couple who were found brutally murdered in their home on Saturday.

Their 42-year old son, who is a known drug addict is the the main suspect in the case.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid said that this was based on the findings of the post-mortem examination that was carried out by Pusat Perubatan Universiti Malaya's (PPUM) Forensics department yesterday.

"There were three stab wounds on the head, neck and face.

"There were similar stab wounds on both the victims," he said when contacted by Harian Metro.

Earlier the New Straits Times had reported that police received information from members of the public at 7.43pm on Saturday regarding a fight between the suspect and his elderly parents, aged between 72 and 82 years-old.

Allaudeen is reported to have said that the bodies of both the victims were found lying in a pool of blood in the hall of the house where they were believed to have been murdered.

He was reported as saying that at 7.50pm, a police team from the Kuala Lumpur police contingent headquarters and the Brickfields district police headquarters went out to apprehend the suspect who was caught at 10.30pm the same day.

He said that the suspect was just released on bail after being charged in court recently for a drug related offence.
