Adenan visits flood evacuees at Taman Malihah relief centres

KUCHING: Despite their busy schedule attending Chinese New Year open houses, Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem and his wife Puan Sri Jamilah Anu made time to check on the condition of flood evacuees relocated at a community hall in Taman Malihah here today.

Some 400 people seeking shelter at the flood evacuation centre were suprised to find Adenan and Jamilah entering the hall at 3.30pm.

Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Rohani Karim was also present.

Adenan and his wife spent close to an hour mingling with the flood evacuees at the centre.

"I am here to ensure every government department involved in this effort is here to assist the flood victims," Adenan told reporters.

"I am here to check if they (flood victims) have been provided with food, shelter and other basic necessities."

Adenan said he was satisfied with the evacuation and distribution of assistance process.

"Today, we are expecting the situation to improve but we are taking every precaution especially when the tide comes."
