GEORGE TOWN: Top actor Shaheizy Sam tied the knot with starlet Syatilla Melvin at a ceremony in Nibong Tebal today.
At a closed-door ceremony at Syatilla's family home in Jawi, Shaheizy, 33, recited the 'lafaz nikah' in one pronouncement at 9pm.
Their wedding was solemnised by Universiti Sains Malaysia's transformation centre director Datuk Ellias Zakaria, witnessed by Syatilla's father Amirol Melvin Abdullah.
The marriage has been dubbed "the wedding of the year", as it recorded about RM25 million in sponsorship.
Syatilla, 25, received a maskahwin (dowry) of RM10,082 and seven trays of gifts from Shaheizy.
In return, Shaheizy handed over nine trays of gifts to Syatilla.
Today's ceremony is made even special as it was Syatilla's 25th birthday.
A grand reception by Syatilla's family would be held at the Bukit Jawi Gold Villa tomorrow.
Shaheizy will hold a groom's side reception at the Mandrian Oriental Hotel, Kuala Lumpur on Feb 14.
A special fans-only reception will be held in KL on Feb 20.
Shaheizy is the reigning top winner of Anugerah Bintang Popular Berita Harian.
He is best known in recent years for his hit movies like Rembat, Polis Evo and Mamak Cupcake.
Syatilla, whose real name is Siti Nur Syatilla Amirol Melvin, is the star of popular television dramas and series such as Esah Pajero, Lara Hati, Rindu Bertamu Di Abu Dhabi, Rentas Samudera, Ariana Rose, Ramadan Yang Hilang and Aku Isterinya.
