2 hurt when Hatyai-bound bus skids off highway

SLIM RIVER: Two people suffered slight injuries when a tour bus with 25 people on board skidded off KM349.7 of the North-South Expressway near here early today and landed on a 10m slope.

Fortunately, there were no fatalities in 1am incident, and all the victims crawled out of the bus and climb up the slope by themselves.

A state Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said the department received a distress call at 1.26am.

However, when the rescuers arrived at the scene, all the victims had reached the shoulder of the highway.

“We have thoroughly checked the bus and surrounding area of the crash to ensure that all of the victims were safe before we ended the operation at 2.30am,” he said.

Based on initial information, the spokesman said the Hatyai-bound bus was ferrying 23 passengers from Klang, including three children.

Nineteen of them were locals while the another four were Thai nationals.

“Those slightly injured were a woman and a man, while the driver and co-driver were unhurt,” he said.
