Close call for express bus sandwiched between cars and lorry

GEORGE TOWN: An express bus with 28 people onboard had a close brush with disaster yesterday when it was sandwiched between a host of vehicles at the North-South Expressway near Nibong Tebal on the mainland here.

In the 10.30pm incident at KM152.9 (southbound), the bus driver had slammed the brakes after two cars ahead of it had crashed into each other. The bus managed to stop mere inches from the car.

However, a lorry trailing behind could not stop in time and rammed headlong into back of the bus.

This caused the bus to plough into the two crashed cars ahead of it.

Fortunately, the bus driver and passengers were unhurt, while others involved in the accident escaped with minor scrapes.
