Kedah MB announces RM50k allocation each for state Chinese private high schools

ALOR STAR: Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah announced an allocation of RM50,000 to each of the three Chinese private high schools in the state yesterday.

Bashah announced the allocation to the three schools, namely SM(P) Keat Hwa and SM(P) Sin Min both in Alor Star and SM(P) Sin Min in Sungai Petani, in his speech at the Aman Makmur Carnival which was held at Dataran Tanjung Chali in Pekan Cina here in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration.

"They are New Year's ang pow from me as the new Menteri Besar," said Bashah.

In his speech, he urged the Chinese community in the state to unite and give their support to all the programmes organised by the state government.

"This is important if we want to gain success.

"Let us all take the opportunity to get involved in all the programmes that the government has or planned for the benefit of the people in Kedah, just like tonight's event which is held through a collaboration between the state government and a non-governmental organisation Dewan Perhimpunan Cina Kedah," said Bashah.

Also present at the event were Wanita MCA chief Datuk Heng Seai Kie who is also special advisor in the Prime Minister's Department; state Environment, Chinese Community Affairs, Health and Unity Committee chairman Datuk Dr Leong Yong Kong; and Kedah Chinese Assembly Hall president Datuk Cheng Lai Hock.
