IPOH: A quick thinking nine-year-old girl escaped from being driven away by a man who stole her mother's Honda Accord at Taman Meru Perdana here yesterday.
In the 6.50pm incident, the girl’s 38-year-old mother had left her in the car while she went to fetch another child at a kindergarten nearby.
She left the engine idling and a man suddenly entered the parked car.
Suspecting something amiss, the girl immediately opened the car's door and ran towards the kindergarten and screamed for help.
A motorcyclist who saw the incident tried to give chase but fell down and injured himself when his machine was grazed by the car.
Ipoh police chief Assistant Commissioner Sum Chang Keong confirmed the incident and said that police were now investigating the case.
