RANAU: Thirty four students escaped injury when the bus they were travelling in collided with a car at Jalan Kampung Pinasook near here.
In the 2pm incident, the bus was travelling from Sandakan while a car with two passengers in it was heading towards Kundasang. Both vehicles were involved in a head-on collision.
The impact of the crash caused serious damage to the car, trapping the passengers inside.
Rescuers were rushed to the scene after the district fire and rescue department received a distress call at 2.14pm.
District fire and rescue chief Jimmy Lagung said the rescue team managed to pulled out a man and a woman from the mangled car.
“They were pinned to their seats and were taken to hospital by ambulance,” he said, adding that the students and bus driver were unhurt.
