LIPIS: A senior citizen was killed when the car she was travelling in with five family members hit a moving lorry at Km37 of the Central Spine Road near here today.
Sharifah Abu Bakar, 69, was killed in the 6.45am incident while the others had with light injuries.
Lipis district police chief Superintendent Ismail Man said the victim's Proton Wira and the lorry filled with rubber wood were travelling in the same direction.
"The deceased, along with her son driving the car, his wife and their three children were travelling from Kampung Labok, Machang, in Kelantan to Puncak Alam, Selangor, after Aidilfitri celebrations.
"The lorry was heading from Gua Musang, Kelantan, to a sawmill in Lipis.
"Investigations showed that the Wira driver lost control of the car before it hit the moving lorry. The front-seat passenger died at the scene."
Ismail said the driver and his family members were treated at the Merapoh clinic while the lorry driver, 51, was unhurt.
