KUALA LUMPUR: Faiz Subri could be in the running for Fifa's Puskas Award for the best goal of the season.
The FA of Malaysia (FAM) today sent the video clip of his spectacular free kick for Penang in a Super League match against Pahang on Feb 16 to the world body for a possible nomination for the award.
"Fifa will analyse the goal and decide whether it should be among the 10 nominations for the Puskas Award," said FAM general-secretary Datuk Hamidin Amin in a statement today.
FAM added they were confident that Faiz's goal will secure the nomination.
Faiz became an overnight worldwide sensation thanks to his outrageous goal for Penang in their 4-1 win over Pahang recently.
The video clip of the goal went viral and was picked up by numerous media outlets around the world.
