Man who went missing while hiking in Tanjung Tuan found

PORT DICKSON: A 22-year-old man was found in weak condition, less than an hour after he was reported missing at the Tanjung Tuan recreational area, near Pantai Cermin, here, tonight.

Teluk Kemang Fire and Rescue Department chief operation officer, Mazlan Hamid said, the man showed up at a guard post at the Tanjung Tuan recreational area at around 9pm.

"We were informed that the victim was found by a fisherman, who then sent him to the guard station," he said.

Mazlan added that the victim was reported missing on his way back from a trekking trip at the recreational area with three other friends.

"The victim was exhausted and had to stop to rest. His friends however, proceeded to seek help. When they returned to the location where they left him, he was no where to be seen," said Mazlan.

He said the department received an emergency call at 8.01pm and arrived at the scene at 8.18pm.

Eight personnel from Teluk Kemang Fire and Rescue station were deployed to the scene.

"We took about an hour to search for him. We believe the location he was at, which was near to the beach, made it possible for the fisherman to notice and save the victim," he said.

Mazlan added, the man was not hurt and had returned home.
