Suspected explosives turn out to be Petrosains science projects

KUALA LUMPUR: The two objects found at Aquaria KLCC here, which police earlier suspected to be explosives turned out to be only school science projects.

City police chief Datuk Tajudin Md Isa said initial investigations revealed that the glass jars were left at Aquaria by a primary school student, who went there on a school trip.

"From closed-circuit television camera (CCTV) footage, police found that the group of school students had earlier visited Petrosains in KLCC.

"From investigation, police learnt that each of them were given a jar together with wires, a light bulb and a battery by Petrosains as a science project," he said.

Tajudin said CCTV at Aquaria also captured a girl from the same group leaving the jars at Aquaria.

He said police have sent a team to find the girl, who is a student of a school in Bukit Beruntung, Rawang, to assist police probe.

"I would like to assure the public that there's no need to panic, as from our probe, it had been ascertained that the objects were not explosives.
