Bella's family demands justice if skeletal remains turn out to be hers

BATU PAHAT: The sister of 32-year-old Mila Sharmila Shamsusah, or Bella, demands justice if the skeletal remains that were found by police on Friday turns out to be that of the missing woman.

"We are very disappointed even though various efforts have been made to find evidence that the last person with Bella was behind her disappearance.

"What else can I do... what I am sure of, is that Bella's boyfriend knows about my sister's disappearance. But now, after 38 days, what have we obtained?

"If we had known earlier where Bella was concealed, our family would surely have received a body, not just the skeletal remains.

"Even if she is lifeless, we could still hug and kiss her for the last time," she said.

She added that Bella always shared everything she was about to do.

She said she was confident that her sister did not "just disappear".

The sister said the individual involved was said to have fabricated stories about her sister.

"I tried to buy a new mobile phone to copy the information from Bella's original phone. The aim was to see how much truth there was in what her boyfriend had told the authorities.

"What I got was that all the answers given by that individual were far-fetched. My mother (Noraini Salleh) and I had to go back and forth to the police station to find out the developments during that period," she said.

Meanwhile, Noraini maintained her stance that the skeleton was not that of Bella, as rumored.

"I am sure because at this moment I can still talk (to people). If the skeleton is really Bella's, I wouldn't be like this," she said.

Bella was reported missing after going to the laundromat with her boyfriend on the night of Dec 14.

On Friday, police found an incomplete skeleton in an abandoned rented house in Tongkang Pechah, after being led there by one of the suspects.

Bella's family was also informed of the discovery, but the police have not been able to confirm whether it is the missing woman or not.

So far, three individuals, including Bella's boyfriend and her stepfather, have been remanded until Jan 27.
