Road Safety Dept to engage more schools

BUTTERWORTH: The Road Safety Department (JKJR) will engage more schools in an attempt to reduce fatalities among students.

JKJR deputy director-general Abdul Haris Lakar said the initiative was necessary as youths between 16 and 25 had the highest fatality rate on the road.

He said statistics showed that the group had recorded 1,175 deaths up to September last year.

"We need to constantly remind the youths that road safety is paramount," he said after launching a JKJR programme at SK Jawi here today.
