Mukah launches road safety campaign for festive season

MUKAH: A Road Safety Campaign for the festive season was officially launched in Mukah District on April 1, aiming to reduce traffic incidents and promote safe driving practices, the Sarawak Public Communications Unit reported.

The event was inaugurated by the Deputy Minister of Economy Malaysia and Member of Parliament for Mukah Dato Hanifah Hajar Taib, who emphasised the importance of road safety measures, especially during the high-traffic festive periods.

In conjunction with the campaign launch, Dato Hanifah also participated in distributing bubur lambuk, a traditional porridge, to the public as part of the Ramadan celebrations. A total of 2,400 packets of bubur lambuk were distributed across three locations in Mukah, namely the Mukah Viewing Tower, Mukah Fire and Rescue Station, and Kampung Pulat in Balingian.

The distribution event saw the involvement of the Mukah Division Resident Kueh Lei Poh and various department heads, underscoring the community spirit and cooperation in promoting safety and communal harmony during the festive season.

This initiative reflects the commitment of the local authorities to enhance road safety awareness and ensure the well-being of the public during significant festive periods.
