MITI inks two new MoUs for Bumi vendor development programme

KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with two new anchor companies for the implementation of a Bumiputera vendor development programme (VDP).

The two companies are Serba Dinamik Sdn Bhd and Uzma Engineering Sdn Bhd.

With the signing of today's MoU, the total anchor companies has increased to 18.

MITI minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed said to date, 2,670 Bumiputera vendors have been appointed by anchor companies under the VDP, which include government-linked companies and large local conglomerates with revenue of up to RM10.9 billion in 2015.

Prior to this, 16 companies has signed similar MoU in August and November 2014 including Boustead Naval Shipyard Sdn Bhd, Celcom Axiata Bhd, Chemical Company of Malaysia Bhd, CIMB Bank Bhd, Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd and Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sdn Bhd.
