Zahid: BN leaders are always with the rakyat

LIMBANG: "The 'seasonal politicians' will start surfacing as the 11th State election draws nearer", commented Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today.

In an apparent reference to opposition leaders who had started their campaign rounds here, Zahid assured the people that Barisan Nasional leaders were different.

“BN leaders consistently meet the people, going to the ground to see for themselves, to listen to their needs and grouses,” he said in his speech during the “Bedudun Ceremony”, an annual event celebrated by the Malay Brunei and Kedayan communities here.

Zahid, who is also Home Minister, said Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem deserves all the support he can get to lead the State BN team in the coming elections.

“Ever since he took over the helm of the state, ‘Tok Nan’ has raised many issues with the Federal government and national leadership in Kuala Lumpur.

“We hear it loud and clear, I assure you, we listen to what he has to say,” he added.

In the Bedudun ceremony, which literally means to visit, Zahid was given a traditional welcome by the Kampung Gadong community.

Numerous activities were lined up, from buffalo racing, a food fest as well as song and dance performances.

Accompanying him were his deputy Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed, Datuk Seri Awang Tengah Ali Hassan who is the Industrial Development Minister, Public Utilities Minister and Second Minister of Resource Planning and Environment Minister, Limbang MP Hasbie Habibollah, Batu Danau Assemblyman Paulus @ Palu Gumbang and Bukit Kota Assemblyman Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail.

Zahid later attended a meet the people session with residents of the Intai Longhouse in Kampung Menuang here.
