Submit receipts and win big in Customs Dept's GST competition

PUTRAJAYA: The Customs Department has launched the ‘Let’s Ask for GST (Goods Services Tax) Receipt’ competition as part of its efforts to promote consumer rights and compliance from businesses in issuing receipts.

Department director-general Datuk Seri Khazali Ahmad said the competition also coincided with the launch of the consumer request taxable invoice incentive programme.

“This programme will encourage more establishments to issue receipts to customers, while ensuring compliance.

“There have been many cases where establishments that are supposed to charge GST do not, while there are those who are not supposed to charge tax yet impose charges.

“This programme will help strengthen the effectiveness of the auditing and enforcement of GST more efficiently, which ultimately benefits the country and the people,” he said after launching the competition, today.

He also said consumers should be aware of their rights especially involving the issuance of receipts for their purchases.

Khazali said the competition was a form of incentive given to consumers, who have carried out their rights in requesting for receipts.

Winners stand a chance to win 2,876 prizes every month.

The prizes include a Modenas CT1155 motorcycle, 75 smart phones, 1600 gift vouchers and 1,200 electronic items.

The competition will run from April 1 until July 31 and is open to the public except for the department staff.

Submission for the competition can be made online through www.myresitgst.com.my or by downloading the free MyResitGST application via the Google Playstore or Apple AppStore.

Participants will need to key in information about the receipt and upload a picture in the entry form.

Lucky winners will be picked by the department every month beginning early May.
