KUALA LUMPUR: Police last night searched Pandan member of parliament Rafizi Ramli's home and offices - following his arrest under the Official Secrets Act - to gather evidence related to the investigation.
At about 10.30pm, a group of policemen in two cars were seen reaching at the PKR headquarters in Petaling Jaya.
After spending about 20 minutes there, Rafizi was taken to the Pandan PKR office in Pandan Jaya.
It is learnt that police seized a desktop computer from the office.
Rafizi was later brought to his home in Bukit Antarabangsa to retrieve his laptop and several documents.
"They seized a laptop and several documents," he said when met outside his home yesterday.
He added that his wife and child were sleeping over at his in-laws' house following his arrest.
He was taken to the Federal police headquarters in Bukit Aman, where he is being held overnight.
Rafizi is expected to have his remand extended today.
Earlier, around 30 people including opposition leaders gathered at 9pm outside the police headquarters in Bukit Aman to demand Rafizi's release.
Penampang member of parliament Darell Leiking hoped that Rafizi would be released before the parliament session starts today.
"What is the purpose of police arresting him outside of the parliament? Are they intimidated by him?" he said in his speech at the gathering.
Among those present were lawyer Latheefa Koya, Pas Pokok Sena member of parliament Datuk Mahfuz Omar and Bersih co-chairperson Datuk S. Ambiga.
At 6pm yesterday, Rafizi was arrested as he exited the Parliament building for alleged wrongful communication of official secrets.
Last month, Rafizi exposed a document which he claimed was a classified document showing links between 1Malaysia Development Bhd and what he claimed were delays in disbursement of Armed Forces Fund Board gratuity payments.
The Armed Forces Fund Board has since rejected Rafizi's claims.
