Zahid reminds BN candidates to go to the ground once elected

SRI AMAN: Barisan Nasional (BN) candidates contesting in the 11th Sarawak election have been reminded from sidelining their constituents once elected.

The reminder came from Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who believed that the candidates would perform their duties diligently after the May 7 polls are concluded.

Unlike candidates representing the ruling coalition, Zahid said the opposition would only deploy its people to the ground during the election period.

"I have faith that BN representatives will go to the ground to understand the aspiration of their grassroots regardless during election season and otherwise.

"We are nothing like the opposition who only appear during election season," said Zahid in his speech during a gathering with the people from Linchang longhouse in Kampung Entawa here today.

Present were Sri Aman Member of Parliament Masir Kujat and BN candidate for Simanggang Datuk Francis Harden Hollis.

Zahid, who is also the Home Minister, said the Federal government, especially Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak was concerned about the welfare of the people in the state.

This, said Zahid, was reflected through the implementation of the RM16 billion Pan Borneo Highway project and billions of ringgit in additional allocation.
