City hall seals 26 units at PPR Kg Muhibbah Puchong

KUALA LUMPUR: Kuala Lumpur City Hall has issued a foreclosure notice on 26 units of houses at the Public Housing Program (PPR) in Kampung Muhibbah, Puchong which were rented out to non-citizens and occupied by illegal occupants, last night.

City hall Director of Housing Management and Community Development Department Wan Mohd Ghazali Nor said the offence was detected through the integrated operation carried out to trace PPR tenants who had abused the facility.

“As a result of the operation, two units that were rented out to foreign nationals had been sealed immediately while tenants of 24 other units had been given 14 days’ notice to vacate their units and sealed as they were rented out to illegal occupants.

“The city hall will not compromise with those who were found to have abused the PPR housing facility to make profits...they rented the units at RM124 each but sublet them out to others at double the original rent,” he said at a media conference after the ‘Enforcement Operation on Violators of city hall PPR Rental Conditions’, at PPR Kampung Muhibbah Puchong, last night.

He said all the offenders concerned were found to have breached the Public Housing By-Law (Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur) 2000.

He said that earlier, the city hall had sealed and seized back 114 units of the PPR for similar offences for the period January up to April 22, 2016 under the Integrated Operations Against Illegal Activities by the Ministry of Federal Territories. --Bernama
