Guan Eng has to leave Sarawak before polling day

KUCHING: DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng has been told to leave by May 5, upon his arrival to the state yesterday.

DAP Sarawak chairman Chong Chieng Jen confirmed the matter at a press conference here.

"Yes, his (Guan Eng) visitor's pass was stamped with the date. He was told to leave on May 5.

"When we asked the immigration department for the reason, they only responded "ikut arahan" (follow order)," Chong said.

Guan Eng, who is Penang Chief Minister, shared a picture of the visitor's pass issued by the immigration department in his Twitter account yesterday, stating that he was permitted to stay in Sarawak until May 5.

He tweeted: "After 20mins wait allowed entry 2swk only till 5 May. Not allowed in after that until sarawak election on May 7 is over".

PKR deputy president Azmin Ali who also arrived on the same day, was granted a pass to remain in the state until May 2.
