Fuel prices remain unchanged for May

KUALA LUMPUR: Fuel prices will remain unchanged for the month of May even though global crude oil prices had increased in the past month.

Brent crude oil, which was around US$39 per barrel, went up to around US$48 per barrel.

Petrol Dealers Association Malaysia president Datuk Hashim Othman told the New Straits Times today that the fuel prices remain unchanged because the Ringgit had not strengthened significantly.

"Our currency went up only slightly from RM3.93 against the US Dollar last month to RM3.90.

"Besides the global price of crude oil, the strength of the country's currency is also taken into account in determining the fuel price," he said.

RON95 will remain at RM1.70 per litre while RON97 will still be at RM2.05 per litre.
