KUANTAN: Umno members must be more proactive in addressing criticisms against the party and its leaders.
Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob said, as the next general election is around the corner, immediate response to matters raised by irresponsible parties is needed to ensure the people will not fall victim to untruths.
“Whether we will continue to rule the country or not, it depends to the people, therefore we must help the party’s leaders and our president Datuk Seri Najib Razak to win the hearts and minds of the people.
“With the advancement of information technology, it is easy to spew lies, slander and hate. It will become a big problem if we did not address any of these immediately.
“When we do not respond immediately, the public’s confidence will be undermined,” he said during the prize giving ceremony of state-level Umno Sports Carnival on Saturday.
During the event, Adnan also called for the assemblymen and division chiefs to better cooperate on the provisions distributed for the welfare of the party and the people.
On the sports carnival that held from Apr 28 to 30, Adnan said it served as a platform to strengthen the ties between 14 divisions in the state.
Eight sports were contested during the carnival - table tennis, soccer, netball, volleyball, badminton, sepak takraw, futsal and bowling and the winner will represent Pahang in the Umno Sports Carnival, which will be held this month.
